PE at OLSP: Intent and Implementation
Our Intent
At OLSP, Physical Education is central to developing confident, active and resilient learners. Our intent is to ensure every child builds the knowledge, skills and positive attitudes needed to lead healthy, active lives. We aim to provide a broad, engaging PE curriculum that promotes physical literacy, teamwork, determination and enjoyment of sport.
We want all children to:
-
Develop strong fundamental movement skills and physical fluency
-
Build confidence, resilience and a positive mindset towards physical activityÂ
-
Experience a wide range of sports and physical challengesÂ
-
Understand the importance of health, fitness and wellbeingÂ
Our vision is that every child leaves OLSP with a lifelong love of movement and the confidence to participate in sport within school and beyond.
Our Implementation
To deliver high‑quality PE across the school, OLSP works in partnership with Premier Sports, who support us in providing expert coaching, structured skill progression and engaging lessons for all year groups. Their specialist input strengthens our curriculum and ensures consistency, challenge and enjoyment for every child.
PE at OLSP is implemented through:
-
Weekly high‑quality PE lessons taught by class teachers and Premier Sports coaches
-
Clear progression of skills from Foundation Stage through KS2
-
Active learning opportunities that build stamina, coordination and teamwork
-
Regular participation in local sporting events, festivals and community sports initiativesÂ
-
Cross‑school competitions, giving pupils the chance to represent OLSP and develop sportsmanship
Through this approach, children experience a rich, inclusive and motivating PE curriculum that supports physical development, emotional wellbeing and personal growth.
