Our GIFT Chaplains
Growing in Faith, Inspiring others, Finding hope and Trusting in God
Our GIFT Chaplains are a group of children who play a special role in supporting and developing the Catholic life and mission of our school.
Being a GIFT Chaplain is about putting our faith into action. Our chaplains help to make our school a place where everyone feels known, valued and loved, following the example of Jesus in the way they serve and care for others.
Our GIFT Chaplains help to:
-
support and lead prayer and worship across the school;
-
help prepare prayer spaces and contribute to the spiritual life of our school;
-
encourage other children to take an active part in prayer and reflection;
-
share and celebrate the Word of God;
-
promote our Gospel values through their words and actions;
-
look for ways to serve others within our school, parish and wider community;
-
support charitable activities and encourage others to think about those in need;
-
help us care for God's creation;
-
welcome visitors and share what makes our Catholic school special;
-
listen to the ideas of other pupils and help them to play an active part in the Catholic life of our school.
Faith in Action
Our GIFT Chaplains understand that faith is not simply something we learn about β it is something we live.
Through prayer, service, kindness and leadership, they encourage us all to think about how we can make a positive difference to the lives of others. Sometimes the smallest actions can have the greatest impact: offering friendship, noticing someone who needs help, caring for our environment or simply showing kindness.
Our chaplains remind us of Jesus' words:
βLet your light shine before others.β β Matthew 5:16
Pupil Leadership
Being a GIFT Chaplain gives our children an important opportunity to develop as young leaders within our Catholic community. They work alongside staff and clergy to consider how we can continue to grow in faith and strengthen the Catholic life of our school.
Most importantly, our GIFT Chaplains are there to remind us that every member of our school community has a part to play in our mission. They don't do the work of faith on behalf of everyone else; they inspire and encourage all of us to put our faith into action.
